Academics

Academic Excellence

OCA integrates personalized learning through cross-disciplinary projects, tailoring instruction based on individual data for continuous learning. Student-led capstone or research projects promote deep comprehension and a love for learning, ensuring academic excellence and equipping students for the future.

CCSF

Unique to OCA, the Canvas and Clay Spiritual Formation (CCSF) Class is a daily morning program dedicated to spiritual growth and emotional well-being, rooted in the belief that the Bible is the living truth, actively working in our lives today. Through this class, students reflect on their emotion and learn to understand, filter, and express their feelings as Christians, using God’s word. Students come to realize that they are wonderfully and fearfully made, deeply loved by God, and gain valuable insights from Biblical figures about God’s love, patience, and care in the lives of His people. The CCSF class nurtures both spiritual growth and emotional resilience, helping students begin each day with clarity, purpose, and faith.

STEM Exploration

Each morning, OCA students engage in a 75-minute STEM class led by Dr. Jeong, a PhD graduate in Engineering from Georgia Tech. Our STEM program immerses students in hands-on activities that blend science, technology, engineering, and math into cohesive, interactive learning experiences. Students explore, experiment, and innovate as they conduct science experiments, record observations, and apply math skills through calculations and graphing—all within a connected curriculum. Engaged and excited, students often say that the 75 minutes fly by! Through this program, they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing them to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

ELA Program

Each morning, OCA students dive into a 75-minute ELA and Social Studies class led by Mrs. Locke, a seasoned educator with experience developing reading programs and curricula at prestigious institutions like Teachers College. Through rich, engaging lessons, students explore classic and contemporary literature alongside topics in society and politics, all while sharpening their ELA skills. Our no-phone policy fosters a true love of reading—students are often seen with books everywhere on campus, and many cite ELA as their favorite class. With a focus on developing critical reading, writing, and analytical skills, our program is tailored to each student’s learning path, enhancing grammar, writing, and comprehension. Mrs. Locke’s holistic approach and extensive background as a reading specialist and professor ensure that students build a strong foundation in literacy, fostering skills and a lifelong passion for reading and writing that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Social Studies

Led by Mrs. Noh, a PhD candidate in intercultural education, our social studies class teaches students about history, geography, civics, economics, and culture. The class celebrates and embraces the unique and wonderful ways God has made people from different nations and cultures. Lessons are integrated with CCSF and ELA, helping students internalize knowledge and apply learning across subjects. Through hands-on projects and discussions, students develop skills like teamwork, empathy, and critical thinking, making connections between these concepts and their everyday lives.
