The OCA Difference

What makes OCA different

Faith-Integrated Mastery-Based Personalized AI + Classical

At OCA, every child is uniquely created by God and learns best in a loving, purposeful community. We unite faith, character, and academic excellence — not as separate goals, but as one.

Every morning begins with God
CCSF — Canvas & Clay Spiritual Formation — shapes the entire day before a single lesson begins.
Every child known by name and need
Small classes and individualized learning plans mean no child is invisible, overlooked, or left behind.
Results you can see
Grades 3–5 gained an average of +10.8 percentile points in Math and +4.2 in Reading on NWEA MAP Growth in 2025–26.
How OCA Works

Four commitments — not marketing phrases, but the real daily practices that shape every child’s experience at OCA.

Faith-Integrated

Not just a Bible class. A way of life.

Faith at OCA isn’t about studying Scripture in isolation — it’s about knowing who God says you are and learning to live as His follower. Each morning, CCSF shapes how students see themselves, others, and the world through His eyes.

Mastery-Based

Advance when ready — not by calendar.

Clear goals, timely feedback, and re-teaching until every concept truly sticks. Students move forward when mastery is secure — not when the school year says so. Anxiety drops. Confidence builds.

Personalized

Your child — known by name and need.

Every student has their own individualized learning plan and daily agenda. Small class sizes mean teachers truly see each child — academically, emotionally, and spiritually — and respond with care.

AI + Classical

Modern tools. Timeless skills.

AI supports personalized practice while teachers lead with deep reading, writing, logic, and discussion. Students learn to use technology wisely — and to think and create powerfully without it.

Pillar Two

Personalized, Mastery-Based Learning

Every learner has a unique profile. We design pathways that balance guidance, challenge, and encouragement so each student grows with real confidence — not just a passing grade.

Clear targets before they start
Students know what “proficient” looks like before beginning — no guessing, no surprise. Goals are visible, concrete, and within reach.
Advance when ready — not by date
Students move forward when mastery is demonstrated, not when the calendar says so. Those who need more time get it. Those ready to go further do.
Individualized learning plans
Each student has their own daily agenda and learning path. Teachers know every child’s strengths, gaps, and goals — and teach accordingly.
Mistakes are data, not failure
Frequent feedback, re-teaching, and a growth mindset culture mean students learn to persist — and understand that effort and progress matter more than perfection.

Pillar Three

AI + Classical — Rooted in Christ

We blend modern AI tools for personalized practice with the timeless strength of classical learning — deep reading, careful writing, logic, and rhetoric — guided by Christian wisdom at every step.

Teacher-led, tool-supported
AI enhances feedback and pacing — but expert, caring teachers lead all instruction. Technology serves the teacher; the teacher serves the child.
Digital wisdom, not just digital skills
Students learn when to use AI — and when not to. Safety, privacy, citation, and bias are taught age-appropriately so children grow into wise, discerning users.
What stays deeply human
Socratic discussion, close reading, original writing, labs, projects, and oral presentations remain central — because thinking and creating without technology matters.
Ready for what’s next
Children leave OCA confident with and without technology — prepared for middle school, high school, and a world that will keep changing around them.

Pillar Four

Student Agency & Growth

We cultivate joy, ownership, and responsibility so children become confident, curious, and kind learners — not just compliant ones. Students at OCA take genuine pride in their own progress.

Visible goals and personal agendas
Students plan, track, and reflect on their own learning with clear daily agendas — building executive function skills that last through high school and beyond.
Real projects with real audiences
Experiments, presentations, publications, and exhibitions give work purpose and authenticity. Students have published their own magazines on faith, history, and community.
Voice, choice, and public speaking
Frequent share-outs, presentations, and leadership roles build clarity, courage, and kindness — giving students genuine ownership of their learning journey.
Joyful, purposeful habits
Routines for attention, gratitude, and perseverance shape character and community — so learning feels meaningful, not just obligatory.

A Day at OCA

What a day actually looks like

Every day at OCA is intentional — shaped by faith, built around each child, and grounded in the belief that learning and living for God are never separate things. Here is what that looks like from morning to afternoon.

CCSF — Spiritual Formation
Canvas & Clay

We begin with God — not as a ritual, but as a way of life

Before any lesson begins, students and teachers gather for Canvas & Clay Spiritual Formation. This is the first activity every single morning without exception. Students bring their whole selves before God — their feelings, their struggles, their joys. They learn to name their emotions honestly and process them through God’s Word.

This isn’t a devotional add-on bolted onto the school day. It shapes everything that follows — how students treat one another, how they handle difficulty, and who they are becoming.

“We help children experience God, not just learn about Him.”

A real teacher, right beside your child

We learned quickly that young children — especially in K–5 — need a person beside them, not just an app. Our teachers model, guide, and reinforce learning in real time. Technology supports practice, but the teacher leads every lesson.

Every student works at the level that’s right for them, moving forward when mastery is secure — not when the calendar says so. All subjects meet and exceed New Jersey learning standards.

Executive function skills

Building habits that last a lifetime

Every student works from a personalized agenda — their own daily plan for assignments, goals, and priorities. This isn’t just organization for school. It builds the executive function skills that will serve them through middle school, high school, college, and beyond: planning, prioritizing, and following through.

Real work, real purpose

Learning that connects to real life

Students don’t just read about the world — they engage it. Through hands-on projects, writing workshops, science investigations, presentations, and student-produced publications, learning becomes something they do — not something that happens to them.

Faith, academics, and creativity come together in work students are genuinely proud of. Our students have published their own magazines on faith, history, and community.

Wednesday Chapel
Parents always welcome

The whole school worships together

Every Wednesday, students and teachers gather for chapel — worshiping, hearing the Word, and being reminded together of who God says they are. It is one of the most distinctive rhythms of OCA life, and one parents consistently say they value most.

Parents are always welcome to join. Many do.

Behind the Scenes
Teacher Collaboration
Every afternoon

Teachers who never stop learning either

Every afternoon after students leave, our teachers meet. They review how each child is doing, share what’s working, and refine how they teach. They read research, visit recognized schools, and ask hard questions about what OCA can do better.

Our faculty hold PhDs and have taught at universities — yet they chose small classrooms because they believe this is where the most important work happens.

“Qualifications that could take them anywhere. A calling that brought them here.”
Our Teachers

Dedicated & Christ-Centered Educators

Our teachers bring deep expertise, strong faith, and a humble willingness to keep learning. They collaborate, research, and adapt — and they chose OCA because they believe this is where the most important work happens.

They begin every day in God’s Word
Before students arrive, teachers gather for Bible devotion, sharing, and prayer — seeking God’s guidance for the school, the day, and each child they serve.
High expectations, high support
Clear structures, gentle coaching, and consistent encouragement help every child thrive — not just the ones who already excel.
Daily collaboration after school
Every afternoon, teachers meet to review each child’s progress, share what’s working, and refine how they teach — never settling for good enough.
Modeling wisdom every day
Adults at OCA demonstrate curiosity, humility, integrity, and joy — not just in what they teach, but in how they live in front of students.
True partnership with families
Teachers communicate clearly and walk alongside parents in each child’s growth — because home and school work best together.

All the teachers and administrators have the qualifications and experience to be anywhere else, but I’m thankful to the Lord that they choose to be at OCA. Your investment in this new model of Christian schooling will reap great fruit in the years to come.
