At OCA, we are dedicated to supporting the growth of every student’s mind, body, and spirit. These policies are designed to create a thriving environment for students and their families:
Collaborative Learning:
Parents are expected to work alongside OCA to maximize their child’s learning and development in mind, body, and spirit. By partnering together, we create a holistic educational experience for every student.
Individualized Learning:
At OCA, we tailor education to each child’s unique learning journey. Students are not placed in groups where they repeat material they already know or feel lost. Instead, we meet them where they are to ensure mastery of each step, preventing learning gaps that could cause challenges in higher levels. Students may not necessarily follow grade-level material but focus on what they need to learn to build a strong foundation.
CCSF Class (Canvas and Clay Spiritual Formation):
Each day at OCA begins with CCSF class, which helps students develop a healthy spiritual life as Christians. Based on the Bible, students learn how to walk with Jesus and apply God’s teachings in practical ways—from regulating emotions to reflecting on God’s word as they start their day.
Serving the Community:
As Jesus asked us to love one another, OCA students practice love both within the school and by serving the community. Starting in 5th grade, students are required to complete a minimum number of community service hours. Middle and high school students are encouraged to plan a capstone project to identify needs and serve the community in meaningful ways.
Cell Phone Policy:
To foster focus and learning, no cell phones are allowed during school hours. Students may bring phones to school, but they must be left in the front office until dismissal.
Church Participation and Parent Fellowship:
Parents are required to be active members in a church and participate in a small group within OCA’s parent fellowship. This gathering provides a space for parents to hear school news, share their lives, engage in Bible devotions, and pray together. Regular participation in the OCA parent fellowship is essential for staying connected and building a strong, supportive community.
Dress Code:
Students are expected to wear the designated school uniform and gym clothes. Proper attire for specific activities must always be worn, reflecting a respectful and ready-to-learn mindset.
